A lot of people seem to be using the word "behavior" and there seems to be a lot of confusion as to what it means and/or how it is applied. To clarify this issue from the INTERACTIVE BEHAVIOR / Partners & Protectors perspective,

Training: a timed attention and immediate response exercise to what is required or requested through repetition for approximate 15 minute sessions. Short term situational memorization. Compliance to patterned drill or specific routine.

Pet Psychology: Observational and/or collective research and documentation of species perceived mental, motivational and/or behavioral characteristics. The application of clinical human re-direction methodology as therapeutic solution.

Clinical Behavior: a variably applied combination of both training and pet psychology.

Human and companion animal living together, acting and reacting. Ongoing environmental or real time teaching*. Practically applied cause and effect guidance creating habituation behavior within a given environment. BASED ON BELIEF THAT HABITS CREATE HABITS

Teaching through and for trust, respect and deference. Continuous and environmentally ongoing leadership or parenting guidance. BASED ON THE BELIEF THAT PARENTING OR LEADERSHIP TAKES NO TIME OUTS.

Rehabilitation is based on human habit reversal re-creating response behavior* from the animal. BASED ON THE BELIEF THAT WE GET WHAT WE EARN.

we are not training, not pet psychology nor clinical behavior. What we are is:

Species Interactive Behavior*

"Misconceptions about dogs influence how people supervise and interact with them and all too often, ignorance leads to injury." Unreported dog bites in children University of Pennsylvania
"Dogs provide danger signs or signals before an attack that the victims do not recognize nor respond to appropriately. "One merely has to listen to a victim's or witness's attribution of the causes of a dog bite to discover how unaware the general public is of the danger signs that are associated with by dogs." Severe attacks by dogs - Clemson University
