Enrollment problem list for Toby:
wakes up at 4am and whines in his crate - does not come when called (if I ignore him he will eventually follow me in but if I come after him he runs away b/c I guess he thinks I'm mad at him or wants to play) - sniffs the countertop when I'm praparing a meal - gets under the table when we are eating - steals the dishcloth - steals socks he finds around the house - does not always sit on command - does not always stay on command - always wants to enter/exit a room first - tries to get on the couch - barks at every noise he hears - is skittish of every movement - afraid of the lawnmower - afraid of other dogs who bark at him when we run together

As soon as Toby came into camp he began learning to pay close attention to his behavior and began learning a whole new way to act within his environment
lowering his activity level and lengthening his attention span
learning to stop his attention demanding behavior (barking/whining)
learning to curb his uncontrolled enthusiasm
learning to play nice or he cannot play
(this includes no uncontrolled barking and/or whining while playing)
learning not to go to the bathroom in the house
learning to wait his turn
learning to not dart out of doors
learning to remember to stay

Toby began working on a lot of SIT and STAY excercises - these excercises are the best at teaching him to pay attention and remember thus beginning to lower his activity level and lengthen his attention span. This leads quickly to building his overall confidence level,

The following sit / stay videos show the increasing level of distraction difficulties Toby has to work through as well as earning the right to go play with the other kids.

When Toby first got to camp, he was standoffish and unsure of himself and his surroundings. The next series of videos show his confidence growing.

it also shows that no matter what - he still has to listen and remember to behave.

Toby is
one COOL DUDE

and he is working very hard to learn all these new RULES and MANNERS - he will need his whole family to help him transfer all this new knowledge back into his new home.

He really likes Marnie
his new BFF

Toby's high activity created "need to do something" constant activity destructive behaviors. Lowering the activity lowers the destructive need - however New Years fireworks threw Toby right back - and the destruction level skyrocketed like the firecrackers - he did calm down quickly though.

Toby made new friends and learned not to react with such extreme behavior upon seeing new and unusual things.

Redirecting Toby's energy level to things he can chew on is a difficult effort - but slowly begins to pay off - see below and see his progress in the videos to the left.
