VIDEO - on day four started seeing prior learned habits

VIDEO - Twitch and Marnie outside for the first time

DAY ONE THRU FOUR
TWITCH SLEPT THE WHOLE FIRST TWO DAYS AT CAMP - AND I LET HIM SLEEP
He would wake up long enough to eat a little, drink a little and go outside. It took several days of giving him a quiet and peaceful place to rest for his "batteries" to recharge. After rest time his prior learned behaviors began showing up and I began teaching him a whole new way to deal with things.
DAY FOUR
Enjoying free time outside and exploring the yard area
DAY FIVE THRU FOURTEEN
I began treating this with presenting Twitch with two things - first, heights he could not scale (taking away his ability to succeed) and second, a better option for him to choose to stay. The video below shows Twitch on his 6th day at camp - after thinking about it - only one attempt at "leaving" and then the decision to stay. Providing Twitch with a feeling of belonging is a long term habitual re-direction behavior on his human's part. He wants to be a part of a family but never respected any human enough to defer his judgment. We cannot ever erase what he has already learned - BUT - we can teach him a different direction of behavior and then consistently live the new behavioral direction (setting new habits)
Twitch is very willing to learn once the lessons are presented so he can understand.
Twitch showed no signs of having learned that he belonged to any family or pack (bonding) when he came into camp - Even though he lived with humans, he had no one he could respect. He had learned how to leave whatever area he was in - clearing whatever fences or confinements were presented to him as shown in the video to the left.
Twitch is genuinely enjoying being part of a family or pack rather than believing he was on his own.
BEHAVIOR UPON ENTRY: short attention span, uncontrolled enthusiasm, pecking order takeover (that who's in charge issue) triggered high activity level, attention demanding behavior, meddling and mind your own business issues.

The video above shows Twitch's prior attention demanding behavior. Warning - this video is long and very irritating - I actually had to leave the area while this was filming because I would have had to correct and I would not have been able to video the extent of this habit. How he learned this was being given his own way, His insistence behavior would begin slowly and continue to grow in volume and frequency and he would not stop on his own until he got his own way - here at camp he is learning to stop insisting and defer to the parent (pecking order reversal). He is fitting into his new surroundings very well - I began treating this improper behavior by correcting him at FIRST BARK and redirecting his attention to his bone and a "behave" frame of mind.

Twitch loves to play and has a great sense of humor. He cannot help but cheer anyone up just watching him. On the opposite end, he learned to revert to play whenever approached by a human and quite quickly would spin out of control. Here he is learning that he must "play nice" or he cannot play (setting behavioral range limits) and that there is a time and place for everything and when it is time to stop the play and begin quiet time, then that is what time it is.

Twitch learns and applies very well - he will make a great companion Boxer Buddy for anyone willing to take away confusion and apply understanding and guidance.
